From learning how to read and reading to learn, our English Language programmes have been time-tested and proven. Taking on a story-based approach, students learn to read eloquently, make inferences and write with flair. Tiny Readers (3 years old) Toddlers are introduced to phonetic sounds and word play. Listening and speaking skills are heavily honed during this formative stage of development. Early Readers (4 - 5 years old) Incorporating Julia Donaldson's storybooks, early readers are gradually introduced, revised and strengthened with phonics knowledge before embarking onto the next stage. Emergent Readers (6 - 7 years old) Students are taught basic rules of writing, where important technical areas such as spelling, grammar and punctuation are heavily emphasized. Emergent readers are also exposed to short chapter storybooks where reading stamina is continuosly built upon. Young Writers (7 - 10 years old) Students begin to explore various writing formats and genres. Given a literary journey with the likes of E.B. White and Roahl Dahl, students begin to explore writing in both figurative and literal manners. Intermediate Writers (11 to 13 years old) Students make their progress onto the IGCSE pathway where classes become more formal and structured. Intermediate writers continue to explore important literature classics and poems. At this stage, students are able to define themes, analyse characters and build form and plot structure.
